The 2009 Honda Civic lightly tweaked

The 2009 Honda Civic lightly tweaked
by Auto123.com
Honda has refreshed its popular line of Civic sedans and coupes, now in mid-life. Available since 2006, the current Civic is just as bold, so only minor exterior changes have been made. The main improvements include a redesigned front bumper, reconfigured headlight and taillight combinations, a chrome panel stretching between the taillights and a chrome exhaust finisher on the better-equipped versions. New colour combinations are also available.

The most important changes concern the new equipment packages featuring recent technologies. Among the new products are a Bluetooth wireless connection and a USB audio interface. Honda continues to offer a choice of three engines: the 1.8-litre i-VTEC available on all regular versions, the powerful 2.0-litre, 197-hp mill outfitting the Si versions and the hybrid model's 1.3-litre, electrically assisted engine.

Unfortunately, however, the natural gas-powered GX version is not yet available in Canada; it is mainly sold in California and New York State. According to Dick Colliver, executive vice-president of American Honda Motors Co., Inc., "the Civic line-up uniquely embraces traditional gasoline, hybrid, high-performance and natural gas technologies like no other vehicle in the world."
